The Person I Am Trying to Become

So I guess it’s been a while.

Since my last post, many things have happened. I’ve sat my A-levels, been to Paris and Italy, dyed my hair red and got a tattoo. This year (so far!) has been hard, but I’ve made it more than halfway through, and I’m finally done with compulsory education, meaning I’m more free than ever. Have I felt more free? No. Which is why I’m attempting to become a better person.

Of course, I’m not going to entirely change myself. I’ll still be the same old Drew (sorry!), but there’s a few small changes I’d like to make in order to become the person I’ve always wanted to be. As always, I’m reverting back to lists to share these, so if I seem to be slipping, feel free to send me this list so I remember who I want to be.

How I Am Becoming The Person I Want to Be:

  1. ACTUALLY WRITING. Both my blog and my creative writing have slipped this year, and I don’t want that to happen anymore. I could make an excuse about my A-levels being too much, but it really is sheer laziness and lack of motivation that have let this happen. From now on, I want to write more, the way I used to, and get back into the swing of things. After all, if I ever want to be a writer, I have to actually start writing again to get there.
  2. Finding a calm place. At the beginning of this year, I got really into yoga and meditation, both of which helped massively with my mental health, and just generally finding the calm I always seem to be searching for. Just like writing, I stopped practising both of these things, but I’m determined to carry on trying to find peace.
  3. Realigning myself with spirituality. Having never been a religious person, people are always shocked to find that I absolutely adore astrology, tarot cards, crystals, and all things spiritual. After all, if I can’t seem to believe in a God, how is it that I can put my trust in the stars? I’d like to do an entire blog post about my relationship with spirituality, so I won’t go into much detail here, but I want to realign myself with the stars again, and also find some elements of peace and tranquillity through this.
  4. Being more organised. People that know me know my bullet journal is my life, but it’s been on the backburner for a couple of months, and I want to get back into journaling in order to organise my life and myself more. On top of this, I’d like to try and keep the space around me tidy (something I seem to find impossible), to try and fully follow the whole “tidy space, tidy mind”.

There is other things I want to do of course, but these are my main aims for now. Hopefully I’ll stick to them, and you’ll be getting more regular blog posts again!
